From Guru To Murderer: Sushil Kumar Gets Arrested For Murdering Peer Sagar Dhankar

The 2-times Olympic medalist, Sushil Kumar is finally under policy custody after evading the arrest for nearly 19 days. The 37-year old Indian wrestler is booked under criminal intimidation, murder, criminal conspiracy, and few other charges.

A crime branch of Delhi Police will further investigate the murder of 23-year old wrestler Sagar Dhankhar.

The Day Of Deadly Brawl And Sushil Kumar Arrest

According to reports, the wrestler abducted Sagar from his house on the day of the crime and indulged in a fight at the Chhatrasal Stadium on 4th May. The verbal brawl between Sagar and the convicts soon ended up beating Sagar to death.

One of a convict also made a video of the incident intending to spread fear among the wrestlers of his community so that they don’t go against Sushil in near future. Sonu, Amit, Sushil, and few more were seen assaulting Sagar in a video.

4 Special Cells Chased Sushil Kumar For 19 Days

A non-bail-able FIR was lodged against the wrestler after which he and his associates continued to escape the arrest. It was not easy for the Delhi Police alone to find them as they were switching their locations and also changed SIM cards to avoid the trace.

Police took the help of four special cells, and a crime branch to search the convicts who were hiding in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and UP.

Even a reward worth one lakh was announced by Police to those giving any information about Sushil. After a long chase of 19 days, Delhi Police arrested him from the Mundka area along with 5 more convicts. The accused also plead for bail to the Delhi court denying his involvement in the case.

However, the court has dismissed the bail and asked Delhi Police to investigate the matter. Sushil and his associates will remain in police custody for 6 days. All the 6 are booked under sections 188, 269, 120-B, and IPC section 34.
