Following the Golden Globes recognition last week, Rajamouli and composer MM Keeravaani had a meeting with Steven Spielberg and James Cameron, both of whom praised the RRR team and Rajamouli’s work on the period film.

The director of RRR, who has lately paid a few visits to the US in order to present the movie, was left speechless by the reception it got, especially from American audiences. He expressed that this was exactly why he wanted to make films in the first place, to bring joy to the viewers. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly’s Awardist podcast, Rajamouli said, “I think it is a dream of all filmmakers all over the world to make a movie in Hollywood.

I am no different. I am open to experimentation.” He further mentioned that he was uncertain of what to do next. In India, the director stated that he enjoys more creative independence and has the ultimate say in his projects. He added, “Back in India, I am the dictator. No one tells me how to make a film.” If he were to ever create a film in Hollywood, he thought he would have to share the credit with another artist. “Very likely, my first move will be to collaborate with someone,” he said.
