Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi’s joint effort, Dahaad, an eight-part crime drama starring Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah
will have its world premiere at the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival as a part of the Berlinale Series programme.
The story is based in a sleepy town in Rajasthan, and revolves around sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati (Sinha) and her team at a local police station.

Sub-Inspector Anjali Bhaati is assigned the case when a sequence of women turn up dead in public bathrooms, and initially, the deaths seem to be straightforward suicides. As the investigation progresses, Anjali starts to believe that a serial killer is at work. What follows is a thrilling pursuit between a skilled criminal and an underdog police officer as she attempts to put together the clues before another life is taken.
Berlinale Series, which was set up by the festival in 2015, provides an exclusive opportunity to preview new series productions from around the globe.
Developed by creators who relish the freedom of serial storytelling, the programme encompasses a range of formats which showcase contemporary and
thought-provoking narratives.

Notable works which are part of the Berlinale Series include Agent (Denmark), Arkitekten (Norway), Bad Behaviour (Australia), The Good Mothers (United Kingdom), Spy/Master (Romania/Germany) and Why Try to Change Me Now (China).
At the Berlinale, the inaugural Berlinale Series Award will be presented, in collaboration with Deadline.
The international jury, consisting of actor Andre Holland, executive Dana Stern and screenwriter Mette Heeno, will choose the winner. Out of competition, Der Schwarm (The Swarm) will be screened, a co-production between Germany and Belgium.
Additionally, the Retrospective section will feature Satyajit Ray’s Aparajito, and the Documentary section will include Gautam Bora’s Ein Herbst im Ländchen Barwalde and Priya Sen’s No Stranger at All.
Sen’s film, which portrays Delhi in times of lockdown through a collection of incomplete fictions, is set to have its international premiere at the gala.
