September Holidays 2021: Banks To Stay Shut For 12 Days This Month

Bank Holidays In September 2021: Reserve Bank Of India has announced the calendar for all private as well as public banks for this month. As per the new calendar, all banks will remain shut for 12 days in September.

Here is a full list of days when banks will not be operational.

A total of 5 weeks off fall this month whereas others are festive holidays. Ganesh Chaturthi is the major festival in September and will be celebrated on 10th September across the country. The second day of the festival i.e 11 September is again a holiday as this is the second Saturday of the month.

However, not all private and public banks will get off on this day. Those working in selected cities- Nagpur, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Ahmadabad, and Panaji– will observe a holiday. The starting two days are local holidays in Guwahati and Gangtok respectively.

Other days when customers cannot visit banks for their pending work related to the bank are as follows:

• 17th September – Karma Puja
• 20th September – Indrajatra and Teej
• 21st September- Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day

5, 12, 19, 25, and 26th of September are weekly off days for banks across India.

These bank holidays are marked as per the Banks’ Closing of Accounts, Negotiable Instruments Act, and Real-Time and Negotiable Instruments Act as mentioned under RBI.
