Army Soldier Sepoy Kom Abducted and Killed In Manipur

According to officials, the Indian Army soldier’s body was discovered on Sunday at the Khuningthek village in the Imphal East district of Manipur.

He was recognized as Sepoy Serto Thangthang Kom or Sepoy Kom of the Military’s Guard Security Corps (DSC) detachment at Leimakhong in the Kangpokpi area, they said.

He hailed from Tarung in Imphal West, authorities said. As indicated by authorities, unidentified furnished men kidnapped Sepoy Kom, who was on leave, from his home around 10 a.m. on Saturday.

As to his 10-year-old child, who was the main observer of the wrongdoing, three men entered their home while his dad and he were dealing with the patio.

“The furnished men put a gun on the Sepoy’s head and constrained him into a white vehicle prior to escaping the spot,” authorities said citing his child.

Sepoy Kom’s Body Was Found In Khuninhthek Town

“Until Sunday early morning, there was no news of Sepoy Kom. Around 9.30 am, his body was found at Khuningthek town, east of Mongjam under Sogolmang PS in Imphal East. According to his brother and brother-in-law, “the soldier had a single bullet wound on his head,” confirming his identity, officials added.

Sepoy Kom is survived by wife, daughter, and son. The last rites will be conducted as per the wishes of the family, officials said, adding the army has rushed a team to assist the bereaved family.
