Samsung, a smartphone maker based in South Korea, has begun rolling out the January 2023 security update for its devices. The first devices to receive the update were the Galaxy A10, Galaxy A73, Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy S21, and Galaxy Z Flip. Now, the company has started providing the update to its Galaxy S22 smartphones.

Carrier-unlocked versions of the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra smartphones in the US are now receiving a firmware update with the version number S90xU1UES2BVL4. This update includes the January 2023 security patch as well as fixes for several security vulnerabilities. It is currently rolling out to AT&T, Comcast, Cricket, US Cellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile devices.

How do I install the January 2023 security update for the Galaxy S22 series?

If you have a carrier-unlocked Samsung Galaxy S22 series device in the US, you can now download the January 2023 security update. Follow these steps to get the update on your device:

  • Go to the Settings menu on your Galaxy S22 series smartphone.
  • Tap on the Software Update option.
  • Then, press the “Download and install” button.
