Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has refuted the former’s accusations that two diplomats discussed the release of a US marine sentenced to jail in Moscow as announced by the Americans.
This is a big embarrassment for US Secretary of State Antony Blinken as he is trying to make false statements that are biased and untrue.
Russian Spokesperson on the Matter
The Russian Foreign Ministry refuted Blinken’s assertion, calling it a “lie” and an example of the “astonishing” behaviour of the American government. Zakharova asserted on Friday that she had mistrusted Lavrov regarding his “short talk” with Blinken; however, the senior Russian diplomat later acknowledged that the matter had not come up during their brief conversation.

At a news conference on Thursday in New Delhi, Blinken revealed that he and Lavrov “spoke briefly” outside of a meeting of the G20 foreign ministers.

Paul Whelan was taken prisoner by Russian for 16 years on the grounds that he was a spy, and the US Secretary of State falsely imprisoned Whelan. This is a bogus report, though, as no such modifications have really been performed.
Secretary of States: Statements
Blinken made three points in a meeting with Laurov according to a senior US State Department official. These points were quoted by New York Times:
- The United States has confirmed that it will support Ukraine in the war against Russia until it ends;
- The US wants Russia to start a new nuclear treaty;
- It wishes to exempt Paul Whelan, who is convicted of spying and is serving 16 years imprisonment.
