Roger Binny Becomes New BCCI President, Replaced Sourav Ganguly

Roger Binny, hero of the 1983 World Cup becomes 36th president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday. Taking over another cricket legend Sourav Ganguly, he will take charge before the ODI World Cup next year.

Along with him, BCCI has also elected some other personalities to different posts including Rajeev Shukla as the vice president, Devjit Saikia as the joint secretary, and Ashish Shelar as the treasurer.

Just after being selected as the new president, Roger interacted with ANI and talked about his future plan. Here’s what he said.

Roger Binny Talked About His Plan As a President of BCCI

In the conversation with ANI, Roger said “As the BCCI president, I want to primarily focus on 2 things. First is the prevention of injuries to the players. Jasprit Bumrah got injured just before the World Cup, which affects the whole plan. Second, I want to focus on the pitches in the country.”

ANI also grabbed the outgoing BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and asked about his reaction to this. In reply, he said “I wish Roger all the best. The new group will take this forward. BCCI is in great hands. Indian cricket is strong so I wish them all the best.”

Roger Binny Cricket Career & Stats

From 1979 to 1987, Roger Binny was an integral part of the Indian squad. He was a bowling all-rounder who 27 Tests and 72 ODI matches.

Despite of short career in the team, Roger is best known for his performance in1983 World Cup and the World Championship of Cricket in 1985. Check out his stats here.
