PAN Card, Aadhaar Card Linking update: Deadline Extended, Check full Details

Every individual who had been allocated a PAN Card as of July 1, 2017 and is eligible to obtain an Aadhaar number is required to inform the prescribed authority of their Aadhaar, upon payment of the specified fee, by June 30, 2023 in accordance with the terms of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

In order to give taxpayers more time, the government has extended the deadline for linking PAN and Aadhaar by three months until June 30, 2023. The previous deadline was set to end on March 31. Individuals do not need to worry about repercussions when informing the designated authorities of their Aadhaar for Aadhaar-PAN linking.

“Failure to do so shall attract certain repercussions under the Income Tax Act from April 1, 2023.” “The date for intimating Aadhaar to the prescribed authority for the purpose of linking PAN and Aadhaar has now been extended until June 30, 2023,” it said.

The PAN of taxpayers who have failed to provide their Aadhaar as needed will no longer be valid from July 1, 2023.

As of this writing, more than 51 crore PANs are said to have already been linked to Aadhaar.
