Director Sian Heder and his team was the highlight of the Academy Awards. The movie wins in the Best Picture category beating Don’t Look Up, Dune, King Richard, Nightmare Alley, and 5 more best movies across the world.

CODA is a remake of a French Film titled La Famille Belier where the main protagonist is the only one in the family who can hear. It is about her life and dream.

Jessica Chastain as the Best Actress

The 45 years old American Actress received the award for her excellent performance in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye.” Jessica is a two-time Oscar-nominated actress but this is her first win where she defeated the biggest stars like Nicole Kidman, Kristen Steward, Olivia Colman and Penelope Cruz.

Will Smith as Best Actor

Will Smith was a bit emotional during his award receiving speech for the role he did in the movie The King Richard. He won the award for portraying father of Venus and Serena Williams and thanked the family for showing trust in him.

This is Smith’s first Academy Award. Andrew Garfield, Denzel Washington, Benedict Cumberbatch and Javier Bardem were other actors nominated for Oscars 2022 in the category.

 Jane Campion for Best Director

Director Jane Campion made history at the 94th Academy Awards. She is the only female director to get two nominations and also third to win an Oscar. She has received this honor for her unique story ‘The Power of the Dog.’

Ariana DeBose as Best Supporting Actress

Ariana made history not only for winning an Oscar but being a first queer woman of color to get this prestigious honor. She also inspired everyone with her speech as well where she said “Anybody who’s ever questioned your identity ever or find yourself living in the gray spaces? I promise you this. There is indeed a place for us.”

Troy Kotsur as Best Supporting Actor

In the male category, American actor and filmmaker Troy Kotsur bagged the award for his role in CODA.

Summer of Soul as Best Documentary Feature

India’s dream to win its first Oscar again shattered where it lost to Summer of Soul. The documentary was set in the 1969 and celebrates the memories of Harlem Cultural Festival.

Dune Bagged 6 Trophies

Almost all awards in the technical categories go to Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya starring Dune. It received the honor for Best Original score, best cinematography, best visual effects, best film editing, and the best sound and best production design.

CODA is the best-adapted screenplay and Belfast wins in the best original screenplay category.
