In May last year, Sharma was booked by the Mumbai and Hyderabad police on charges of inciting hatred between communities and insulting religious sentiments after a video of his comments on Prophet Mohammad during a news debate went viral. The BJP also suspended another spokesperson Naveen Kumar Jindal from the party over his controversial comments.
Nupur Sharma: Death Threats
The “Sar Tan Se Juda” radicals have been threatening Nupur ever since she made the remarks. Last year JeM terrorist Nadim made a plan to kill Nupur, He was later arrested by UP ATS Team from Saharanpur. After that, a Pakistani national Rizwan entered India to kill Nupur and was also arrested in Rajasthan.

In June, the Delhi Police provided security to Sharma and his family. Officials said Sharma told the police that he had received threats on several occasions and that he and his family were being harassed over his comments.
Nupur Sharma has been in talks with the police department as she has regularly submitted the names of people trying to give her threats. The Delhi Police later arrested Nawab Satpal Tanwar who is a chief of Bhim Sena. He was accused for making derogatory remarks on Nupur Sharma.

The ex-politician requested for a gun to Delhi License Unit Department a few months ago. Nupur Sharma said that she and her family has received several death threats over the coarse of few months. Nupur Sharma later demanded for licensed gun to protect her family from any sort of danger in future. However, Delhi Police has been guarding Nupur and her house ever since the matter turned into a dilemma.
