Karan Johar had once admitted that he had nearly ‘destroyed’ Anushka Sharma’s profession after he requested that Aditya Chopra not sign her for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. According to reports, Karan had watched Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi reluctantly and wanted Sonam Kapoor to star. However, when he saw her in Band Baaja Baaraat, he was impressed and considered apologizing to Anushka.

In the 2008 film, Anushka Sharma made her successful debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Aditya Chopra directed the movie, which was a huge success at the box office.
Karan Confessed About the statement
Karan had accompanied Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai, who played the lead roles in his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, for an on-stage interaction with Rajeev Masand and Anupama Chopra at the 18th MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in 2016.
Discussing Anushka, Karan had said, “I completely needed to, totally murder Anushka Sharma’s profession. Because I was like, “no, no, mad or what, you signing her, you crazy!,” when Aditya Chopra showed me her image. You don’t have to sign this, Anushka Sharma. At the time, I wanted Adi to sign another lead actress, and I was completely sabotaging her behind the scenes. I also reluctantly watched the movie, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

“But when I saw Band Baaja Baaraat, I called her and I felt like I owed her an apology and a compliment,” he continued, explaining how her performance in another film altered his perception of her. Apologies because I was so embarrassed by the fact that I would have actually damaged the profile of a talented individual, and compliments because I thought she was amazing.”
As a video from the 2016 occasion was shared on Reddit as of late, relatively few were satisfied with Karan’s assertion.
