‘Just like James Bond series, heroes keep changing’, says KGF Film Producer on Yash’s replacement

Vijay Kiragandur, producer of the KGF franchise, has declared that the series will be continued as multiple parts, similar to the James Bond films in which the lead actor is replaced in subsequent instalments. Yash portrayed the character of Rocky Bhai in the first two KGF films.

Vijay Kiragandur, producer of the KGF franchise, has recently revealed in an interview that Yash, who gained national recognition with the second part of the Kannada blockbuster, will not be part of the subsequent films. He also announced that shooting for the third instalment of KGF will commence only in 2025.

Yash played the part of Rocky Bhai in both KGF Chapter 1 and KGF Chapter 2, with the first movie being a surprise success in areas outside the Kannada region. The second instalment of KGF Chapter 2, released to a much wider audience, went on to become one of the highest grossing films in India, including the Hindi region.

Vijay suggested to a portal that KGF may follow a similar approach to the James Bond series, in which a new actor could take on the role of Rocky Bhai after the fifth part. According to Metrosaga, he also said that Prashant Neel is currently working on Salaar and KGF 3 will not start until 2025.

Vijay, the founder of Hombale films which has produced successful films like Kantara and KGF, has expressed his plans to invest ₹3,000 crore in India’s entertainment industry over the next five years. In an interview with PTI in December, he stated that they will be producing five to six films yearly out of which one will be an event movie and the others will be of various south language stories.

The list of films produced by Hombale Films is quite interesting. It includes Salaar, starring Prabhas and directed by Prashanth Neel, a pan-India film; Bagheera, a Kannada action movie; Dhoomam, a multilingual movie; and Raghuthata, a Tamil film featuring Keerti Suresh.

Hombale Films is set to debut Yuva Rajkumar, grandson of superstar Rajkumar, in a movie helmed by Santhosh Anandram, with a projected release date of the end of 2023. Additionally, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s social thriller Tyson, Rakshit Shetty’s Richard Anthony, and a Sudha Kongara film are in the works.
