Jadeja Criticizes Unfair Treatment of Ishan Kishan in Indian Cricket Selection

Ishan Kishan

Jadeja is wondering why Ishan Kishan left the T20I series between India and Australia early. The Indian cricket board, BCCI, is getting ready to extend the contract for coach Rahul Dravid after the 2023 ICC World Cup.

VVS Laxman, the chief of the National Cricket Academy, coached a less experienced Indian team for the entire five-match T20I series against Australia. Led by the new captain Suryakumar Yadav, this inexperienced Indian team won 4 out of 5 matches against Australia.

India Wins T20s Without Top Stars

In the T20 series against Australia, India played without big names like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah. Shreyas Iyer, a top player, joined the team later as Suryakumar Yadav’s helper for the last two matches.

Even though Iyer played well in the World Cup, Ishan Kishan didn’t play after the third match, which puzzled Ajay Jadeja. He wondered why Kishan wasn’t in the team led by coach VVS Laxman. Still, India did great and won the series 4-1 with a different team.

Doubts About Ishan Kishan’s Rest

Ajay Jadeja is unsure why Ishan Kishan was given rest after just three matches. He questions if Kishan was really tired or if there’s another reason. Jadeja thinks Kishan, who didn’t play much in the World Cup, deserved a spot in the XI for early matches. He highlights Kishan’s game-changing ability, mentioning his potential for big scores.

Jadeja worries about the constant trial approach with Kishan and wants him to get a fair chance. He points out a long-standing issue in Indian cricket – not selecting but rejecting players. Jadeja believes Kishan can make a difference and deserves consistent opportunities.

In the T20 series against Australia, Ishan Kishan had mixed fortunes. In the 3rd T20I, he had a tough time, recording a five-ball duck while keeping the wickets for India in Guwahati. However, Kishan bounced back in the series opener at Visakhapatnam, showcasing an impressive innings of 58 runs off 39 balls.

He continued his good form in the 2nd T20I at Thiruvananthapuram, scoring a brilliant 52 off 32 balls. Despite playing only three innings, Kishan managed to score 110 runs against Australia, averaging 36.67. Ajay Jadeja raised concerns about Kishan being sent home for rest after just three matches and questioned how this approach ensures he is fully prepared for future opportunity.
