The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which manages both ticketing and tourism for Indian Railways, is getting ready to introduce a new feature that will improve and simplify the online reservation process. This new function, which enables e-ticket bookings using voice-based technology, promises to make the procedure even more user-friendly.

According to a report by ET Now, IRCTC is presently testing a new feature on its AI platform, called ‘Ask Disha.’ This feature, known as Digital Interaction to Seek Help Anytime or Ask Disha. Customers will be able to use voice commands throughout the whole online ticket buying process. Currently, the feature is in the testing stage.

As per the reports, the trial’s initial phase has produced successful results, and IRCTC is now getting ready to take additional steps before putting the function into use. According to the article, IRCTC may roll out the voice-based, AI-powered ticket purchase option on the Ask Disha online ticketing platform within the next 3 months.

Customers can purchase tickets and get support for other services on the Ask Disha platform provided by IRCTC without entering their IRCTC UserID and password due to an OTP verification procedure.

The IRCTC’s backend infrastructure is expected to be improved by the integration of AI technology, which will also increase the platform’s daily capacity for online ticket booking.

Ask Disha 2.0: Key features

Ask Disha 2.0, an IRCTC chatbot, will help users to book tickets through text or voice commands in the upcoming version of the ticket-booking portal.

Customers will also be able to cancel tickets, check the status of their refunds, and get the PNR status of their reservations using Ask Disha 2.0.

Also, travelers have the option to change their train station of boarding and destination, view, print, and share their train tickets, last but not the least, ask any questions about their trip.
