Indian Men’s Hockey Team Pushed India In List Of Most Medals In Hockey

Finally, the wait for India to win a medal in hockey is over. Indian Men’s Hockey team clinched bronze by defeating Germany by 5-4 at Tokyo Olympics 2020. This is India’s 12th medal in the event after the 1980 Moscow Olympics. With this, India is now leading the list of most medals in hockey with 12 medals including 3 bronze, 1 silver, and 8 gold followed by Germany.

Players from the team have expressed their emotions but what Rupinder Pal Singh said is what we all need to hear.

After winning the bronze medal for the country, player Rupinder Pal Singh expressed his happiness. Here is what he said.

Rupinder is one of the powerful players in the team and his name is also listed under the list of best drag flickers in the world.

Indian Men’s Hockey Team Captain Is At Loss Of Words After Victory

On the other hand, team captain Manpreet Singh has recalled the hard work of the team. He said, “We deserve this medal.” He further said we dedicate this medal to all the frontline workers and doctors for their relentless effort during covid.

Soon after the match, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to captain Manpreet and the coach of the team.

Indian Men’s Hockey Team To Get Rs 1 Crore

State’s sports minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi has announced a cash prize for all the state players of the team. This includes Team captain Manpreet Singh, forward player Gurjit Singh, Harmanpreet, Mandeep Singh, Simranjeet Singh, and 5 more.

Indian Men’s Hockey Team Reclaimed The Crown 

Though it’s a proud moment for the entire country, Punjab is feeling overwhelmed as around 10 players hail from the state. Punjab CM Amarinder Singh has congratulated all the players and called the victory a tremendous achievement.

He further said, “Bronze is worth its weight in gold.” Definitely, it is as India has waited for more than 40 years to win a medal. The Indian hockey team was once the most successful and with its enormous victory at Tokyo Olympics 2020, it seems we are getting back on track.

Manipur Celebrates India’s Victory With Traditional Dance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Punjab’s CM, and the whole nation are celebrating the historic win of the hockey team. A video from Midfielder Nilakanta Sharma’s hometown celebrating the victory at Tokyo Olympics has gone viral.

The country had won six gold medals back to back from 1928 to 1956. The Moscow Olympics was the last event in which the Men’s hockey team won gold. So, undoubtedly it’s a big day for the country even if the team clinched bronze.
