Till now, India was out of the Omicron radar though the country recorded several new covid-19 cases in the past few days. In a recent development, the country gets the first cases of Omicron covid variant in Karnataka.
Two foreign men, one 46 and the second 66, are tested covid positive after which their samples were sent to the lab for testing Omicron virus presence. So far, the patients did not show any severe symptoms and are kept in observation.
However, their identities are not disclosed and Health Ministry has kept their identities secret. A joint secretary of the Health Ministry, Lav Agrawal, has also requested everyone who came in their contact for further tracking of a new virus.

Mr. Agrawal has advised people to not get panic and follow all the proper covid-19 protocols.
