The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 begins today, with Pakistan taking on New Zealand. Defending Cricket World Cup winners Australia will take on England in their first match on Saturday, February 22.
The two semi-finals will be played in Dubai and Lahore on March 4 and March 5 respectively. The final is scheduled for March 9.
How were the 8 teams selected?
Earlier the top-eight ranked ODI teams used to participate in the Champions Trophy. But for the 2025 edition, the results of the 2023 edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup were used for qualification. The teams finishing in the top eight positions in the 10-team points table, including hosts Pakistan, have secured their place for the Champions Trophy.
