1. Red

Dry Red colour can be prepared by various methods. You can make it by using dried red hibiscus flowers or China rose flowers. Just grate them into a fine powder and use it as a colour. You can also use red sandalwood in its place.

Red colour can also be prepared by mixing lemon juice with turmeric powder.

2. Yellow

For making your own homemade yellow colour, mix turmeric powder and gram flour, wheat flour, or crushed Multani Mitti (Fuller’s soil) in a ratio of 1:2. To add fragrance to your complexion, you can add talcum powder in it.

You can also crush yellow flowers like marigolds in water to obtain wet colours.

3. Green

Mix an equal amount of henna powder and flour to make a homemade green colour. Make sure it is a pure henna powder with no added ingredients like amla which is used to leave the colour. This henna powder will only be used to make dry Gulal, which you can easily remove after playing.

4. Pink

In order to make the pink colour, follow the same turmeric process as we followed to make red. But make sure to mix lemon in lesser quantities.

5. Purple

Grate 4 to 5 black carrots and effectively grind them in a mixer grinder. Then add around 250 gm cornflour and mix them well with your hands. For a nice fragrance, you can also add 10 ml of rosewater. Leave it for some time to get dry.
