Honor first showcased its Honor Robot Phone concept earlier this year. It's scheduled to launch globally at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in March, but before that, the company previewed the device at the Honor User Carnival in China. The Robot Phone features a gimbal camera mounted on a robotic arm on the back of the phone, which can rotate autonomously to track subjects and capture video. The Robot Phone was shown in three color options.

Actual images of the Honor Robot Phone have surfaced on Weibo, providing the first detailed glimpse of this prototype concept device. According to user reports, the device was shown inside a glass case at the Honor User Carnival in China. The phone was shown in black, white, and gold color options, with a leather or glass back, depending on the finish.

Honor Robot Phone Design

The overall design of the Honor Robot Phone resembles the iPhone 17 Pro and Magic 8 series, with rounded corners and a flat frame. A portion of glass is also visible below the camera island. A key feature of this phone is the gimbal-stabilized camera, which is embedded within the rear camera module and extends outward when activated. It functions like a regular gimbal, adjusting itself by tracking the subject using AI.

This gimbal camera is considered excellent for vloggers and content creators, as it enables hands-free recording without the need for a tripod. The HonorRobot Phone's movable camera rotates based on AI to keep the subject in frame. This movable camera module also appears to have a USB Type-C port, which could potentially be used for external accessories. Another USB Type-C port is also visible on the bottom edge of the phone.

Will AI be able to understand what to shoot?

The company has shown a CGI teaser. The actual phone may be unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Whether the foldable camera will be durable or not remains a question. The price may also be higher. The 360-degree rotating camera and 4K recording will generate a lot of heat. However, the company hasn't revealed any cooling plans.

The phone may heat up during long shoots. GoPro holds a patent, but there are difficulties using both methods simultaneously. This phone could be a game-changer for video creators. Hand movements won't distort videos. Automatic tracking will make shooting easier. AI will understand what to shoot. But for now, everything is on paper. Real-world performance remains to be seen.

Honor hasn't yet revealed details about the Robot Phone's sales and availability, but the company is already preparing to showcase the device at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Spain. Honor first teased this futuristic device at the launch event of the Honor Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro.
