Cases of HMPV virus are increasing continuously in the country. Three cases of this virus, which created terror in China, have been found in India today. Earlier in the morning, two cases were reported from Bengaluru, Karnataka and now a suspect has been found in Gujarat.
ICMR warns
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has issued a big statement warning that the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV virus) has spread to many countries including India. However, the Health Ministry said that India is fully prepared to deal with this virus.
Two cases were found in Bengaluru and one in Gujarat
This statement of ICMR has come when two cases of HMPV virus have been reported in Bengaluru. The first case is of an 8-month-old child, who is undergoing treatment. At the same time, the second case is of a 3-month-old girl, who has been discharged from the hospital.
Ruling out the possibility of transmission from other regions or countries, the health department said the infected children and their families have not travelled anywhere recently, so they have no travel history.
Lung problems may occur
Dr Rajeev Jayadevan, chairman of the research cell of the Kerala unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), said the virus is not life-threatening or life-threatening like COVID-19. Yes, it can cause lung infections in some individuals.
ICMR said, “It is emphasized that HMPV is already in circulation globally, including India, and cases of HMPV-associated respiratory illness have been reported in several countries. Further, as per current data from ICMR and Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) network, there has been no unusual increase in cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) or severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) in the country.”
