High Budget Bollywood Movies That Flopped Terribly

Bollywood every year serves us with many movies but not all movies can impress audiences. Sometimes movies imbibes big budgets and hence Producers and Directors have high expectations from such movies. But unfortunately these High budget Bollywood movies sometimes fail miserably at box office.

High budget bollywood movies that were big disasters:

1) Bombay Velvet

It was the biggest failure that stunned everyone. This movie was made with the budget of 120 Crores. Bombay Velvet starred big stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar. Film showcased the retro look but all this disappointed audiences more.

It was said that this movie only made a collection of  only 43 crores causing much losses This movie was made under the direction of Anurag Kashyap under Phantom Films. Movie was released in 2015.

2) Ra. One

Ra.One was another disaster which failed unexpectedly. Shahrukh Khan anticipated a lot from this movie. He was quite upset with its flop. Ra.One was made with a budget of 150 crores and lots of marketing expenses were also incurred. This movie was VFX enabled but still tanked. Film obtained low gross collections. This film was released in 2011

3) Tubelight

Another Khan faced huge loss with his expensive movie. Tubelight incurred the investment of 135 Crores but had low ROI. Film had an emotional theme but it couldn’t touch people emotionally. Tubelight came in 2017 starring Salman Khan and Sohail Khan in the main lead.

4) Race 3

Another sublime disaster of Bollywood and Salman Bhai was Race 3. This movie was made in 180 Crores. Even before the release of the movie, its trailer created a meme fest. Race 3 turned out to be a big fiasco due to its illogical concept, and everything. It even obtained negative reviews from critics. Film was also harshly trolled on social media being as one the most foolish and stupid movies. This one of the High Budget Bollywood movies was big embarrassment.

5) Kalank

With even grand sets, wealthy look and good star cast, this movie tanked. Kalank movie had a very royal touch and expensive materials costumes. This all incurred the cost of 150 Crores. Movie was made under the production of Karan Johar and starred Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha. Kalank had a great music and interesting but still people couldn’t relate with the movie. This movie had the high expectations but unfortunately obtained low gross collections.

6) Zero

Zero was another big flop for King Khan. 200 Crores was invested in the movie with additional promotional and marketing costs. It was considered as the most expensive movie of Bollywood. For the long time it was difficult for the movie to cross even 100 crores. It only made the gross collection of 178 Crores.

7) Saawariya

It was a big surprise when the most competent director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali make such kind of movies. Saawariya was made in 2007 with the budget of  40 Crores. It marked the debut of Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. Though people liked the work of both the actors but they couln’t connect with the storyine of the movie. According to Box office Saawariya managed the collection of only 18.48 Crores.

8) Kites

Rakesh Roshan wanted to establish Hritik Roshan internationally with this film but he couldn’t. Kites, released in 2010 was a romantic thriller directed by Anurag Kashyap and starred mexican actress and model Barbara Mori alongside Hritik Roshan. Movie demanded a budget of 90 crores but was unable to make required collections.

9) Shandaar

Another movie which had luxurious sets and talented star cast failed extremely. Shandaar came in 2015 with Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt as a main lead . It was made under the direction of Anurag Kashyap and produced by Dharma Productions and Phantom Films. People ridiculed this movie for lacking interesting script. Movie was made in 69 Crores but made a collection of only 39.48 Crores.

10) Love Story 2050

Love story 2050 was a movie where the unique concept turned against the movie only. It was a debut of Harman Baweja and starred Priyanka Chopra as a main lead. It was a science fiction romantic film which bored people. Love Story 2050 was released in 2008 with a budget of 60 Crores but returned only 18 Crores.
