The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) on Saturday resumed its survey of the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi to determine if it was built over a Hindu temple. The top archaeology body conducted videography and photography of a trident (trishul), swastika, bell, and flower-like symbol engraved on the walls and pillars of the Gyanvapi complex.
The scientific review continued on Saturday to decide if the seventeenth-century masjid was developed over a previous design of a Hindu sanctuary. The ASI group ended the overview around early afternoon, permitting Muslims to offer supplications in the mosque, and restarted it at 2:30 pm.
Varanasi Court Asked ASI To Submit Report By Sept. 2
The Varanasi court requested that the ASI present the report on the review by September 2. The public authority counsel prior recorded an application encouraging the court to give a month to ASI for finishing the overview and presenting the report.

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to stay the Allahabad high court order on the ASI survey of the Gyanvapi mosque, an exercise that the Muslim side says will “reopen wounds of the past”. The apex court, however, asked the ASI team not to carry out any invasive techniques during the survey.

Protesting the ASI review, All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (RSS) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will ‘set a story’ once the report on the continuous activity shows up and would endeavor to liken it with the Babri masjid issue.
“We have trepidation that BJP-RSS will set a story once the ASI report comes and that different issues like Babri masjid will be brought to the front,” he said.
