From October 1, you Need a Birth Certificate for Tasks like Aadhaar, Voter List, and PAN card.

Birth Certificate: The Registration of Births and Deaths Act 2023 is going to come into force across the country from 1 October 2023. This means that from now onwards the importance of birth certificate will increase a lot. This certificate will be used alone for school college admission, application for driving license, inclusion of name in voter list, Aadhaar registration, marriage registration or government job application.

The Union Home Ministry has made an announcement in this regard by issuing a notification on Wednesday. Both houses of Parliament had passed the Registration of Births and Deaths Bill, 2023 in the monsoon session concluded last month. In this, there was a demand for amendment in the 1969 Act.

The rule will come into effect from October 1

Actually, the Births and Deaths Registration (Amendment) Act, 2023 is coming into force for Birth Certificate from October 1. Under this rule, it will become mandatory to register for births and deaths. Regarding this, the Home Ministry has issued a notification on September 13, under which an update has been given on the implementation of these rules.

Chief Registrar will be appointed.

This Act empowers the Registrar General of India to maintain a national database of register births and deaths. For this, Chief Registrar and Registrar will be appointed by all states. These officers will be obliged to share the data of registered births and deaths in the national database. The Chief Registrar will prepare a uniform database at state level.

A major objective of the Bill is to establish national and state-level databases for registered births and deaths. This initiative is expected to enhance update processes for other databases, promoting efficient and transparent public services and social benefit delivery.

Who introduced the Birth Certificate bill?

Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai introduced this bill in the Lok Sabha on behalf of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Upon implementation of this Bill, the Aadhaar number of the parent or guardian will be required during birth registration.
