On Thursday, Priscilla Presley, the mother of Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, announced her daughter’s death, saying she had been hospitalized earlier that day. She was 54 years old. Priscilla said in a statement, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”

Hours after Priscilla Presley confirmed that her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, was taken to the hospital, Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson Craig Little reported that paramedics had been sent to a home in Calabasas at 10:37 am due to a woman experiencing full cardiac arrest. Records suggest that Presley lives in the said home.

Little reported that paramedics got to the scene after about six minutes, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department later noted that they did CPR and established that the patient had vital signs before being taken to a hospital in West Hills.

People magazine confirmed that Presley, 54, had been hospitalized following the reports of TMZ. She had been present at the Golden Globes on Tuesday to honor Austin Butler who had won an award for portraying her father in “Elvis”. She expressed her admiration for his performance in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” at the red-carpet.
She disclosed to ET that she had to take five days to process the awe-inspiring accuracy of Baz Luhrmann’s movie; she was so overwhelmed that she couldn’t put into words what it meant to her. Just days prior to that, she was in Memphis, Tennessee to commemorate her father’s birth anniversary on January 8th at the iconic Graceland.

When Kristen Sainato and her husband visited Memphis from Cleveland, they received the news of Presley’s passing away on Thursday. Kristen wore a TCB (“Taking Care of Business in a Flash”) lightning bolt symbol on the back of her black jacket, which she was wearing while recalling the occasion of her father’s birthday celebration at Graceland on January 8th. She left a bouquet of flowers at the gate of Graceland, saying “These are for Lisa”.
Sainato expressed her surprise at the news of Lisa Marie Presley’s passing, expressing sadness as she stood in front of the wall that surrounds the home-museum of her famous father. She was overcome with emotion, asking “Why? Why did this have to happen?” She lamented that Lisa Marie deserved a longer life, wiping tears away from her eyes.
