Tremors were felt across parts of North India, including Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana after a 5.3 magnitude earthquake hit Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba region on Thursday.
The National Center for Seismology said in a post on X, “Earthquake of Magnitude:5.3, Occurred on 04-04-2024, 21:34:32 IST, Lat: 33.09 & Long: 76.59, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Chamba, Himachal Pradesh.”
Strong Tremors Felt In Himachal Pradesh
Strong tremors were felt across the town and also in Manali.which is over 350 km from the town of Chamba. The quake struck around 9.30 pm as confirmed by the National Center for Seismology. The earthquake struck at 9.34 pm, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.Mild tremors were also felt in Chandigarh and parts of Punjab and Haryana.
No Loss Of Life Or Property
No loss of life or property has been reported from any part of Himachal Pradesh in the earthquake that lasted a few seconds, officials said. ”I felt a strong jolt lasting a couple of seconds. Just when I was thinking of rushing downstairs, the tremors stopped,” said Sanjay Kumar, a Chandigarh resident.
