Eating sweets, lighting lamps, bursting crackers are considered important parts of Diwali. But this festival of lights can also become a cause of trouble for you. The risk of fire and burning increases significantly during Diwali. There is a possibility of an accident while lighting lamps or firecrackers. Therefore, it is important that you keep your first aid kit ready on this festival. First aid means the first treatment given after any accident. Let us know how to give first aid in case of burning on Diwali.

Prevent Fire from Spreading(Diwali 2023)

If a person has come under fire, first try to extinguish the fire. For this, you can pour water on the fire or try to extinguish the fire with the help of a blanket. Remove the person from the fire area. This will save the person from further burns.

Remove Clothes

Diwali 2023

Remove clothes, jewelry, belts, etc. from the burnt parts of the person. These can stick to burnt skin. Therefore, remove them gently but do it quickly, otherwise, the area may swell and it will be more difficult to remove them later. However, if the cloth is stuck to the burnt area, do not try to remove it yourself.

Wash with Running Water

Wash the burnt area with running water for at least 20 minutes. For this, wash the burnt part by running water under the tap. Never use ice water or ice to wash the burnt area. Nor apply ice on that area for cooling.

Keep the Burnt arm or Leg Elevated

Keep the burnt part slightly elevated above normal level. By doing this the swelling in that part will reduce(Diwali 2023). Try not to bend them but keep them straight.

Do Not Burst the Blisters

If blisters have formed due to burning, do not burst them even by mistake. There is a risk of infection by doing this. Therefore, keep the blisters covered with a bandage or cloth(Diwali 2023). However, while covering the burnt part, take care not to tie the bandage too tightly.

See a Doctor

If there is not much burn, then you can apply medicine on the burnt area at home and cover it, but if the person is badly burnt, then immediately consult a doctor so that proper treatment can be given and the problem does not increase further.
