Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Sunday said the final draft of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (commonly known as CAA) is expected to be ready by March 30 next year, News agency PTI reported.
Addressing a gathering of the Matua community at Thakurnagar in North 24 Parganas district, the BJP MP from the Kheri constituency in Uttar Pradesh, said nobody can snatch citizenship rights from the community, adding that the Act passed by the Parliament in December 2019 ensured that the members of the community had become citizens of this country.

About CAA
Passed by Parliament in 2020, CAA offers citizenship to non-Muslims who entered India from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh before 2015. The Trinamool Congress party insists that CAA is unconstitutional as it links citizenship to faith in a secular country.
TMC Leaders Oppose Statement On CAA
“It is a thorn for the BJP. During the 2021 assembly polls, the BJP did not even mention it in Assam, but raised it in Bengal hoping to capture votes. In Gujarat, on the other hand, attempts are being made to enforce it in some districts,” TMC Rajya Sabha member Santanu Sen said. “Bengal’s Matuas have understood the trick.”
