BYD, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled its premium electric coupe SUV, the BYD Sealion 7 EV, at the Auto Expo 2025. According to the company, the Sealion 7 will offer a driving range of up to 567 km on a full charge. It will be available in two variants: Premium and Performance.
The Sealion 7 marks BYD’s fourth model in India, following the launch of the Seal, Atto 3, and eMax 7. The starting price of the BYD Sealion 7 is expected to be around Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom), with the official pricing announcement slated for before March. This new electric vehicle will compete with other popular models in the segment, such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6.
BYD Sealion 7 Booking Started
BYD has started booking the car. The special thing is that due to the ‘sealion 7’ theme, its booking amount is Rs 70,000 and the company is also giving a discount of Rs 70,000 on booking this SUV till 17 February. Apart from this, the company will also give a free 7kW AC charger along with 7 years / 1.50 lakh kilometer warranty and free installation.
BYD Sealion 7 Design
The BYD Sealion 7 EV features the same headlight unit as the Seal EV. Apart from this, it has a closed-off grille, aggressive cut and crease lines on the front bumper, and a black color finish at the bottom. On the sides, you will get 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, while larger 20-inch wheels are optional. It has flush-type door handles and black rugged cladding over the wheel arches which extends the entire length of the car.
The rear has connected LED tail lights with pixel design elements and a rear bumper with black finish. There are also fog lamps on the bumper. For storage, it has a 58-litre frunk and 520-litre boot space. The boot space can be increased to 1,789 liters by folding the rear seats. In India, the sealion 7 will be available in four monotone color options – Atlantis Gray, Shark Gray, Cosmos Black and Aurora White. There is no dual-tone color option in this SUV.
BYD Sealion 7 interior
The BYD Sealion 7 cabin is equipped with a 4-spoke steering wheel that includes heated grips, along with a dashboard featuring controls for the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and audio functions. The center console holds a drive selector knob, buttons for drive and terrain modes, and two cup holders.
This SUV comes with notable features such as a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, a 12-speaker sound system, a head-up display, and a panoramic glass roof with a sunshade. The front seats offer heating and ventilation, with electric adjustment and memory settings. Other convenient features include a 50W wireless phone charger, connected car technology, and a powered tailgate.
In terms of safety, the Sealion 7 is equipped with 11 airbags, a 360-degree camera, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and parking sensors for both the front and rear. Additionally, the ADAS includes advanced features like rear collision warning and adaptive cruise control.
BYD Sealion 7 Range
The sealion 7 is available in Premium and Performance variants. Both variants are equipped with an 82.5kWh LFP battery pack. The Premium variant comes in rear-wheel-drive configuration, which generates 313hp of power and 380Nm of torque. At the same time, its Performance variant comes with an all-wheel drive option, which generates 530hp of power and 690Nm of torque.
BYD claims that the premium variant of the sealion 7 can accelerate from 0-100kph in 6.7 seconds and the performance version in 4.5 seconds. The company claims that on full charge, its premium variant will give a range of 567km and the performance version will give a range of 542km.
