BBC Raid: The Income Tax Department has set up a “survey” at the BBC’s office in Delhi. The “survey” is also conducted at the office of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in Mumbai. The I-T department has the authority to conduct raids and surveys over any person or organization across the country. If the person or organization is suspected of getting involved in malicious activity or fraud the I-T department comes into action.
Cause of BBC Raid
BBC Raid: The I-T department has conducted a survey at the BBC office for investigating their files. IT department has conducted the survey under I-T Act, 1961, such as Section 133A. The section allows the officials to investigate the personal properties and offices of the suspected person or organization. The officials will go through every little detail like documents, stocks, information sources, etc.
BBC Raid: The officials will go through the details of information, cash, and stocks throughout the process. They might as well investigate the employees of the offices during this time.
BBC released a documentary on Modi a while ago which describes him as being a culprit in the Godhra train burning (Godhra Kand). The case caused the deaths of several people and the BBC collected the on-ground reports on basis of which the firm accused PM Modi. Godhra Kand led to various riots by rebellions, BBC reported in their documentary that PM Modi never tried to stop the riots. The rebellion caused the death of 2,000 people (mostly Muslims) and Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujrat at that time.
Modi has been horrifically accused of being involved in the menace since Godhra Kand 2002. BBC recently released a documentary that accused Modi of being directly responsible for not stopping the riot that caused the genocide. However, the series was banned in India and the government also completely banned any clips and links related to the documentary.
