Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty’s pair made history on Friday in Badminton world championship 2022 by reaching to semi finals.
They defeated Yugo Kobayashi and Takuro Hoki from Japan in the three round match of men’s double in the Badminton world championship 2022.

They were ahead by 2 wins in the game and scored 24-22, 15-21, and 21-4 in the quarter final matches.
With this, India is assured of at least a medal for the first time in the championship.
Both the players have performed very well this year since the beginning. First they won India Open, then Thomas Cup and gold at Commonwealth Games 2022.
The duo fulfilled India’s dream in men’s double game to get a medal but they are still one step away from getting the title.
The duo will play the semi final match on 27 August against Malaysian players Aaron Chia and Soh Woo Yik.

Badminton World Championship 2022 Update
On the other hand, India lost the second quarter final match in singles against China.

HS Prannoy won the first game against Zhao Junpeng by 21-19 but couldn’t defeat him in the second game.
Another Indian pair, MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila faced defeat in the quarter final match and lost to Hendea Seriawan and Mohammad Ahsan in the Friday’s match. They lost by 8-21 and 14-21 in the three round game.
In the women’s game, Saina Nehwal from India is out of the competition. She lost the pre quarter final match.
Pooja Dandi, Sanjana Santosh lost the second round in Women’s double to Lee Ao Hee and Shin Swing Chan.
Ashwini Ponnappa/Sikki Reddy and Ashwini Bhat/Shikha Gautam also lost the second round in women’s double.
