As the Indian cricket team prepares for the 2023 One Day World Cup, they are set to clash against Australia in a 3-match ODI series, beginning on 22nd of this month.
The Indian squad for the series has been announced and to everyone’s surprise, Ravichandran Ashwin has been roped in after a long hiatus. On this decision, Captain Rohit Sharma has shed some light.
Why was Ashwin included in the team?
During the team announcement, Rohit Sharma emphasized the significance of every game they play. Despite winning the Asia Cup, they had to play at a neutral venue.
With the team in high spirits, their focus is now entirely on the World Cup. Rohit further mentioned Ashwin’s consistent performance in Test matches and highlighted his vast experience.
His inclusion was always on the cards, and the upcoming matches against Australia will be a testament to his standing in the team.
