The iMessage Contact Key verification helps users verify that they are communicating with the right person, while the Security Keys for Apple ID allows users to add a physical security key to their Apple ID.

When Advanced Data Protection was first released in the US, users were required to update their iPhones to iOS 16.2.

We expect that the same requirement will be enforced for users outside the US when the feature is rolled out globally, with the release of iOS 16.3.

Advanced Data Protection for iCloud is also available on iPads and Macs and was released alongside iPadOS 16.2 and macOS 13.2. The feature is expected to be released globally on iPads and Macs with iPadOS 16.3 and macOS 13.3. Apple has recently released candidates for iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.3 and macOS 13.3, with the stable versions of all three expected to be released next week.
