Amazon released a blog on 17th February regarding its new protocol. Amazon’s chief executive Andy Jassy decided to make a big announcement after the company laid off a huge number of employees a few days ago. The company has now decided to end the work-from-home tradition from now. Employees were given “Work From Home” two years ago when the Covid pandemic affected the world.

Amazon’s New Decision

Amazon has now decided to bring back all its employees that were allowed to work from home since lockdowns were imposed due to the covid virus. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy explained that it would be easier for the teams to learn and collaborate while working from the office.

The shift will provide a boost to businesses located around the headquarters of the company. Here are a few locations that will receive benefits:

Puget Sound
Virginia
Nashville + dozens of cities around the world

The company has provided relaxations to the employees from the customer support and sales field. These workers can still work remotely. The new changes will be effective from May 1. The employees are expected to work at least 3 days from the office as per the new guidelines. The company allowed most of its workforce to work from home during the pandemic. Amazon CEO Explains The Reason for Work From Home 

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy explains that the employees seem to be more productive while working from the office. He further says that collaborating and inventing is easier and more effective while working from the office. Here are a few more points that he mentions as an advantage of working from the office:

  • Learning from one another is easier when in person;
  • Teams tend to be connected in a better way when they see each other;
  • Teams working on new ideas often find that a whiteboard enhances the group understanding and iteration;
  •  People tend to be more engaged, observant, and attuned to what’s happening in the meetings and the cultural clues being communicated.
