  1. Lord Parshuram, considered to be the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born. Parashurama was born to Maharishi Jamadagni and Mata Renukadevi. This is the reason why Lord Vishnu is worshiped on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. There is also a tradition of worshiping Parashuramji on this day.
  2. On this day, Mother Ganga descended from heaven to earth. King Bhagiratha had performed penance for thousands of years to bring Ganga down to earth. By taking a dip in the holy Ganga on this day, all the sins of a person are destroyed.
  3. Mother Annapurna’s birthday is also celebrated on this day. On this day, food is provided to the poor and Bhandara is organized. Worship of Mother Annapurna enhances the taste of the kitchen and food.
  4. Maharishi Vedvyas ji started writing Mahabharata on the occasion of it. Mahabharata is considered to be the fifth Veda. It also includes Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta. On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, the 18th chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta should be recited.
  5. On this day in Bengal, after worshiping Lord Ganesha and Mother Lakshmiji, all the traders start their accounts. There this day is called ‘Halakhaata’.
  6. Lord Shankarji had advised to worship Lord Kuber and Goddess Lakshmi on this day. After which Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped on the day of Akshaya Tritiya and this tradition continues even today.
  7. On this day of Akshaya Tritiya, Pandava’s son Yudhishthar also got Akshaya Patra. Its specialty was that the food never ran out.
