Valero Texas Open: Indian-Origin American Golfer Akshay Bhatia Lead at the Day 1

Valero Texas Open began Yesterday and the American – Indian origin born golfer Akshay Bhatia led on day 1. On Thursday, the 22-year golfer a 9 – under 63, with f our birdies on the front nine and five on the back nine.

He is a three-point lead over Justin Lower and Brendon Todd sharing T2 after Texas Open round 1. Notably, this is the fourth time has broken 63 in his PGA Tour career. Lower and B. Todd are in the tournament’s second and third positions, respectively.

Bhatia will return for the second round on San Antonio at 9:15 am EDT. Tom Kim and Russell Henley will join him.

Akshay Bhatia has had a mixed start to the 2024 PGA tour season. The California native started off the year with a T14 finish at the Sentry.

He followed it up with a T13 finish at the Sony Open.

His performance dwindles at the American Express, Phoenix Open, Cognizant Classic, and The Players.

But he makes the strong comeback of a T11 finish at the Houston Open.

Now on the first day, he is leading the Texas Tour, let’s see how he will continue his performance at the $9,200,000 prize competition.

World Number Two Ireland Rory Mcllroy is off the lead at the Texas Tournament

The Irish world number two golfer Rory Mcllroy performance is off the lead, After the bogey-free 69 in his final tournament before The Masters next week.

He made a three-birdied, including a 13ft putt on the par-five eight, in blustery conditions.

In the interview, he clarifies that he is working with  Tiger Woods’s former coach Butch Harmon to make minor adjustments to his game.

“He gave me a tiny little something that I went with. It’s felt a little better over the last two weeks and felt pretty good out there,” 

“What I’ve been trying to do the last couple of weeks is no different than what I’ve been trying to do previously. He just sort of gave me a different way to do it.”

He is waiting for the master tour next week with the aim of improving his performance because he is the four-time major champion.
