Adnan Sami Slams Andhra CM After RRR’s Win At Golden Globe, Read More

Adnan Sami criticised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for his tweet congratulating the RRR team for the track Naatu Naatu winning the Best Original Song at the 80th Golden Globes, referring to it as a ‘Telugu flag’.

Adnan Sami took to Twitter to express his joy at RRR’s success at the Golden Globes 2023 awards. The SS Rajamouli directorial created history by becoming the initial Asian film to be awarded the Best Original Song award for the song Naatu Naatu. After congratulating the film’s team, the singer replied to the congratulatory tweet of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy tweeted in joy, “The Telugu flag is flying high! On behalf of the whole of Andhra Pradesh, I extend my congratulations to M. M. Keeravaani, S. S. Rajamouli, Tarak, Ram Charan and the entire team of RRR Movie. We are extremely proud of you! #GoldenGlobes2023.

The Lift Kara De singer tweeted in response to his tweet,

Commenters agreed with the singer that success had many fathers, with one noting that it was both Indian and Telugu pride since the song was from the Telugu movie industry. Another commenter added that the Telugu flag represented Telugu pride. A third commenter also agreed, adding that it was India’s win and not just the south.

 Adnan Sami shared his pride for India shortly after RRR was announced the winner of the Best Original Song category, tweeting his congratulations to the movie’s team. He wrote, “What a fantastic accomplishment for our country! My heartiest congratulations!”

At the Golden Globe Awards, RRR was nominated for two awards. It won the Best Original Song category, but lost out in the Best Non-English Language Film category to Argentina, 1985. The announcement was made by Jenna Ortega, star of Netflix’s web series The Addams Family.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi expressed his pride in the exceptional accomplishment of @mmkeeravaani, Prem Rakshith, Kaala Bhairava, Chandrabose, @Rahulsipligunj, @ssrajamouli, @tarak9999, @AlwaysRamCharan, and everyone involved with @RRRMovie. He offered his congratulations to the entire team and noted that this accolade has made the nation proud.
