The most-awaited movie by Shahid Kapoor for which not only fans but the actor is also excited is on the way. The first glimpse of the Jersey movie is here as the trailer is out a few minutes ago and it has multifold emotions and excitement. It took 2 years for the movie to make it to the screen. Shahid and Mrunal Thakur are in the lead roles in the sports drama by Gowtam Tinnanuri.

The story of Jersey is not ordinary and neither is the character. Shahid plays a highly emotional role of a cricketer. He struggles with his career and stops playing (in fact, goes mute). His son is the only lifeline for whom he makes a comeback after 10 years on the cricket field.

Talking about Mrunal, this is not her first sports drama as the actress was seen opposite Farhan Akhtar in Toofan. However, she was not the first choice for the role and Shraddha was the choice instead. Late, Directors came up with the name of Rashmika Mandanna but finally, it was offered to Mrunal.
Besides Shahid and Mrunal, Shahid’s father Pankaj Kapur will make his presence in the Jersey movie too. He will be seen as Coach Murthy. The movie was earlier assumed as a true story but the jersey is purely a fictional work with few plots drawing inspiration from real-life incidents of Raman Lamba. It is a remake of a Telugu film that was released in 2019 with the original title.
Jersey movie release date is December 31st, 2021.
