After all the tensions that were prevailing in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the Government has finally decided to make some amendments. Amit Shah, Union Home Minister moved a resolution in Rajya Sabha to make Article 370 inoperative in Jammu and Kashmir.

Under Section 3 of Article 370, empowers the President to declare the special status to Jammu and Kashmir making the law inoperative at any time.
Article 370(3) states-
“Notwithstanding anything in the foregoing provisions of this article, the President may, by public notification, declare that this article shall cease to be operative or shall be operative only with such exceptions and modifications and from such date as he may specify”.
Amit Shah further added-

Article 370 Grants Special Autonomy to the state of Jammu and Kashmir
Article 370 grants special status to the state Jammu and Kashmir in many ways. The central government has been given the authority over Defence, military, communication and ancillary matters.
Amit Shah has presented a reorganisation for Jammu and Kashmir, Laddakh will be a state without legislature whereas Jammu and Kashmir will be a state with the legislature.
