YouTube Music Rolls Out Podcasts In The United States

Youtube

Podcasts are now formally rolling out to US customers of YouTube Music after the February announcement and the March testing.

Podcasts on YouTube Music will be accessible to all listeners, regardless of whether they have a YouTube Premium subscription, on-demand, offline, or in the background.

It consists of “casting and seamlessly switch[ing] between audio-video versions on YouTube Music.” Google even states directly that paying users “may experience host-read endorsements or sponsorship messages when listening to podcasts.”

The rollout is now ongoing for “all our listeners in the United States gradually.” According to Google, this “new podcast listening experience complements the podcast video experience on YouTube.” There are currently only podcasts and shows that have posted video versions of their episodes to YouTube. Meanwhile:

Rest assured that we have plans to eventually make podcasts available on YouTube Music in other countries for those of you who live outside of the US. Next to the other mood filters on the YouTube Music Home tab is a new Podcasts chip that loads a specific feed.

Keep playing, Recommend episodes, and Your programs are some of the personalized carousels. Discovering podcasts on the other pages of this website is made possible by divisions like Political Commentary, History, True Crime, Gaming, etc.

A Popular episode carousel can be found in Explore, and “Podcasts” has joined New releases, Charts, and Moods & genres.

Podcasts have been added to Library’s high-level filter alongside Playlists, Songs, Albums, and Artists. You’ll find two Auto playlists for your subscribed shows’ “New Episodes” and “Episodes for Later,” as well as any podcasts you’ve added to your library, here.

There are sub-filters for “Channels” that you have subscribed to as well as “Downloads,” which features a “Downloaded Episodes” auto-playlist.

With show art, an episode list with two lines of description, the publish date, and playback status (length, remaining time with a red bar, or “Played”), show pages are comparable to albums and playlists in nature.

With the option to “Save episode for later” using the bookmark button and download for offline viewing, you may press to view the complete description.

While you have playback speed on the left and a sleep timer on the right, the next/previous buttons on the Now Playing screen have been replaced with 10-second rewind and 30-second forward.

Lyrics are replaced by Show “Details”/notes at the bottom, however, the Up Next queue remains the same.

The Android 13 media player adds playback speed options that you may flip through, while the mini-player switches the next button for the following 30 seconds.

With identical sections in the results list, “Episodes” and “Podcasts” search filters are available. Now, this is available on Android, iOS, and the web.
