Last August, it was challenging to show the story of Kashmir’s crackdown to the world during the abrogation of Article 370. The unprecedented lockdown included shutdowns of internet service, phone and sweeping curfew.
But Kashmir press photojournalists Channi Anand, Mukhtar Khan, and Dar Yasin found paths to let country see what was happening in the Kashmir. Now, the great thing is their determination, and good work has been honoured with the Pulitzer Prize in the field of feature photography.

Channi is a journalist based in Jammu and Dar and Mukhtar are based in Srinagar.
Apart from certificates, they will also be honoured by a cash award of $15,000.

On twitter, Yasin said,
“Thank you, colleagues, friends, brothers. I would just like to say thank you for standing by us always. It is an honour and a privilege beyond any we could have ever imagined. It is overwhelming to receive this honour.”

Anand said that he has no words to be thankful for this award and honour.
“I was shocked and could not believe it,” he said, calling the prize-winning photos a continuation of the work he has been doing for 20 years.
Mukhtar Khan also showed his happiness and said everything is just a beautiful dream.
