Will Amazon Prime Video Co-Produce Akshay Kumar’s ‘Ram Setu’?

Amazon Prime Video has now entered into film creation with Akshay Kumar’s forthcoming movie Ram Setu, the OTT platform confirmed in a press release. The streamer will co-produce the film, with the actor’s Cape of Good Films and Abundantia Entertainment, and Lyca Productions.

The movie will be directed by Parmanu director Abhishek Sharma and produced by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. The movie also features actress Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharucha in the lead roles.

Akshay Kumar stated that the storyline of Ram Setu has always fascinated and motivated him. It addresses strength, courage, love, and remarkable Indian morals that have shaped the virtuous and social fabric of our country. The movie will connect the past, present, and future ages.

He is excited to portray the memorable part of Indian history to the youth. “With Amazon Prime Video, the story will reach everyone throughout the world and hopefully evoke an emotional response from the viewers”, Kumar stated.

The actor had unveiled the first look of the movie on Diwali 2020. The poster starred Akshay Kumar with long hair and a saffron-colored scarf around his neck. He appears to be walking down a small piece of land that seems to separate a sea. A picture of Lord Ram can be seen in the background of the poster.

The head of content at Amazon Prime Video India, Vijay Subramanium stated that the team is thrilled to get into co-production by venturing into a movie that reflects Indian heritage. Notably, the film’s title is the Hindi translation of Adam’s Bridge, a bridge built by stones that connect the southern state of Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka.

Kumar will appear as an archaeologist in the movie. According to reports, the actor will reach Ayodhya with the crew to film the ‘mahurat shot’ on 18 March.

Post theatre release, the movie will be accessible for Amazon Prime Video individuals in India and over 240 nations.
