Eric Garcetti: The New US Envoy to India! Know Interesting Facts About Him!!

Eric Garcetti has been appointed as the new US envoy to India. He was confirmed by the US Senate on Wednesday and will take up the position that has been held since January 2021. Garcetti was originally nominated by present US President Joe Biden in July 2021 and was re-nominated in January this year.

Eric Garcetti: New US Ambassador to India

The Senate voted 52-42 further advancing the former Los Angeles Mayor's nomination. Various politicians voted against him but he was backed by seven Republicans to become the top diplomat with one of Washington's critical strategic partners.

The United States hasn't had an ambassador to New Delhi since January 2021. The absence has been filled as Washington sees India as a powerful partner to push against China's negative efforts.

Garcetti's nomination was not brought to Senate court during the last Congress. This was due to weak support at that time and he was also accused of a few allegations from the opposition party.
