WhatsApp is reportedly developing a 'saved message' feature, as suggested by WaBetaInfo. This feature would give users the option to temporarily preserve a message that is intended to self-destruct after a certain time period, as decided by the sender. Disappearing messages were first rolled out by the company in August 2021.
