It appears that WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will make transferring chats between Android phones simpler. The new setting in the WhatsApp settings tab is expected to allow users to move conversations from an old Android device to a new one without the need to save it to the cloud or use the Move to iOS app to switch from Android to iPhone.

WABetaInfo, a feature tracker, has discovered a new feature in WhatsApp beta version 2.23.1.26. The update includes a “Chat transfer to Android” option in the settings menu that will make it simpler for users to move their chats from one device to another. All they will need to do is click on the setting and then scan a QR code on the older phone after setting up the app on the new device.

The report indicates that the new feature is in progress and no specific date has been set for its launch. Once it is live, transferring data to a new Android device should be quicker since users won’t have to use Google Drive. Nonetheless, if the old phone is lost or unusable, the only way to access the chat history on the new device is through a cloud backup.

WhatsApp is reportedly developing a feature for its Desktop app that will allow users to report any suspicious status updates they see on their computer or laptop. The feature, which is being tested for a future update, will complement the existing ability to report suspicious or spam messages to the company.

It is noteworthy that all WhatsApp interactions, including status updates, messages, voice calls, media, location sharing, and calls, will continue to be secured with end-to-end encryption, meaning that no one, not even WhatsApp or Meta, can access the encrypted contents. However, when a message is reported, it is decrypted and sent to WhatsApp.
