Canalys' report revealed that global smartphone shipments fell 17 percent year-on-year (YoY) in the fourth quarter of 2022 due to tough macroeconomic conditions. Despite this, Apple achieved the highest quarterly market share to date at 25 percent, driven by strong demand for the iPhone 14 series. Samsung followed in second place, with Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo making up the top five. Samsung had the largest share of worldwide smartphone shipments in 2022 overall.

Canalys stated on Tuesday that global smartphone shipments experienced a 17 percent year-over-year decrease during the fourth quarter of last year. Over the entirety of 2022, shipments fell by 11 percent, resulting in a total of less than 1.2 billion due to a challenging macroeconomic climate.

Chinese vendors were not able to expand their market share, with Xiaomi holding onto the third spot with 11%, a decrease from the 13% they held in Q4 of 2020.
