Onam is a festival with so many traditions. You cook traditional Sadya dishes and also dress up differently to mark this occasion. Kasavu sarees are traditional and look equally gorgeous after you drape one.

Here are some stunning looks that you can create with minimal accessories and makeup and draping the graceful Kasavu Sarees.

1. Pair your saree with white cigarette pant which will modify your whole look.

From the many many fun activities that take place during Onam, what seem most exciting to me are two things– The Vallamkali and Athachamayam. Vallamkali is a snake boat race that feautures several oarsmen racing in huge snake-like boats as part of the cultural celebration! Athachamayam is a parade procession that starts off near Kochi i.e. Thrippunithura and typically ends at Thrikkakara. It features marching elephants, music, drums, parade floats, folk art forms and, colourfully dressed people with masks!! So if you’re participating in or even just going to watch the parade, I recommend that you dress to impress because Onam is the time to bring your fashion A-game. . . . . . . . . . . . . #desidhaga #fashion #fashionphotography #fashionphotographer #fashionphoto #fashionshoot #fashionphotoshoot #photography #photographer #photoshoot #photooftheday #outfitoftheday #onam #onamsaree #southindianfestival #indianfestivals #indianfashion #handwoven #handloomsarees #indiantextiles #banaras #cottonsaree #gold #india #kerala

The other legend of Onam is just as fascinating as the one with King Mahabali. It is said that Lord Vishnu took the avatar of Parashurama, which translates to ‘Rama with an axe’. He called war upon the opressive King Kaartavirya due the fact that the king was an oppressive and unjust ruler. After he defeated the King, he threw his axe and it is said that when the axe fell, the sea retreated and created the lands of Kerala and the other western coastal parts of India. . . . . . #desidhaga #fashion #fashionphotography #fashionphotoshoot #fashionoutfit #fashionshoot #photography #photoshoot #photooftheday #outfitoftheday #onam #onamsaree #indianfestival #indiantextiles #indianwthnicwear #indianoutfit #banarasisaree #banaras #india #handloom #handwoven #delhi

The first and the last day of Onam are said to be the most important ones. A lot of festivities take place during the 10-day festival. The most fun activities include boat races, sport competitions, martial arts, dance events, charity and, even shopping! Men and women adorn their traditional attires in celebration. The Kerala saree or Kasavu saree is special to this occasion but no one said that one couldn’t spice it up by wearing a Banarsi saree. At the end of the day, that’s what’s best about being Indian, we know how to share and enjoy each other’s cultures better than any other nation. . . . . . . . #desidhaga #fashion #fashionphotography #fashionshoot #photography #photoshoot #photooftheday #outfitoftheday #onam #onamsaree #indianfestival #southindian #southasianfashion #indianethnicwear #indiantextiles #handloom #handwoven #indianwear #banarasisaree #banaras #india #kerala
