Thief: Jangpura in Delhi is an upscale area, known for its posh shops and affluent residents. Among these is a lavish jewelry showroom, which recently became the site of one of the largest thefts in Delhi's history.

Thief's Robbery:

• In the dark of the night, three Thief managed to infiltrate this luxurious showroom. Their method was daring - they gained access from an adjacent building's rooftop, making their way inside the showroom.
• The ground floor of the showroom housed a safe room filled with diamonds and other precious jewels. These burglars, with precision, managed to break into the safe and escape with jewelry worth 20 crore rupees.

Found out about the thief

• The theft took place on a Sunday night, but it wasn't discovered until Tuesday morning. Typically, the shop remains closed on Mondays, which gave the thieves a head start.
• The owner, upon opening the showroom on Tuesday, was greeted by a shattered safe room wall.
• To make matters worse, the CCTV cameras inside the store were found turned off. Shockingly, despite housing jewels worth crores, there wasn't any security guard present for protection.

Police Involvement:

• According to the police, this ranks among the biggest thefts in Delhi. Although the showroom, named Umrao Singh Jewellers, had several CCTV cameras, the thieves managed to disable all of them, leaving no trace behind.
• DCP (Southeast), Rajesh Dev, mentioned that they received the theft report around 10:55 AM on Tuesday. Since then, a case against three unknown individuals has been registered, and an investigation is underway.

A Mystery Unfolds:

The entire incident has left many baffled. Questions arise - How could thieves operate with such audacity in an upscale area? Why wasn't there any security provision, given the value of the stored jewelry? As the police delve deeper, the city waits eagerly for answers and the culprits behind this audacious heist.

The Scene:

Located in Delhi's posh Jangpura locality lies a prominent jewelry showroom, known for its splendid array of treasures. But recently, it became the epicenter of one of Delhi's most audacious thefts.

The Incident:

The showroom was closed at around 8 pm on Sunday, as informed by Rajesh Dev. However, when the doors reopened on Tuesday morning, the shocking discovery of the break-in was made.

The showroom, a multi-story structure, had its ground floor dedicated to customers and housed a heavily fortified safe room made of concrete. Upon entering, the owner was stunned to see a gaping hole, approximately one and a half feet wide, in the wall of this secure room.

Inside the Showroom:

The ground floor, where the theft occurred, has a heavy metallic gate on one side and walls on the other three. This is where customers usually engage in transactions. The upper three floors are mainly for stock storage and jewelry repairs.

The Stolen Treasure:

• Rajesh Dev, the DCP, revealed that the owner reported jewelry made from 30 kilograms of gold and cash amounting to 5 lakhs as stolen.
• The showroom, owned by Mahaveer Prasad Jain, has been operating for over 75 years and enjoys the trust of its clientele.
• Jain affirmed that the staff members, around 6 to 7, are trustworthy, with most having worked there for over two decades.

Method of Entry:

• Relatives of Mahaveer Prasad, Duler Jain, explained that the thief accessed the showroom via the roof.
• They broke the lock, descended down, and carried away the jewelry from the strong room. Furthermore, they also cut off the WiFi and disconnected all the six CCTV cameras in the showroom.

When Did the Theft Happen?

• While the showroom is located in a prominent area of Jangpura and owned by Umrao Singh and Mahaveer Prasad Jain, sources told news agencies that the theft likely occurred between 11:30 pm to midnight on Sunday.
• Preliminary investigations suggest that at least three people were involved. The efficiency and precision of the theft hint that the culprits might have conducted a prior reconnaissance of the showroom.

Current Investigation Status for Thief 

The forensic team is currently probing the scene. The theft case has been registered at the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station, and multiple teams have been formed to investigate. Given the magnitude of the heist (Thief), the search for the culprits has intensified.
