New Delhi: Monday, The Union Cabinet took a major decision on the salaries of all MPs.  The Salary, Allowance, and Pension of Members of Parliament Act, 1954 will get amendment and it is already approved. The new amendment says that there will be a 30 percent reduction in the salaries of MPs. This reduction is also on their allowances and pensions for one year. It is approved and will be effective from April 1, 2020.

The Union Cabinet decides to take this decision to get support for the fight against coronavirus. On this, The Union Minister Prakash Javedakar says that it is voluntary. As a part of social responsibility, not only MPs but also the state governor's salary reduction will be there. Also, President, Vice President, and PM Modi are also taking this reduction.
