Don Julian Santana Barrera was the owner of the island situated near the Estadio Azteca football stadium in Mexico. Long ago, a girl fell into the canal and died. Don found a doll in the waters and assumed that girl was holding the doll while she drowned in the canal.
He hung the doll to a tree assuming it would keep the girl's spirit away from the island. Don died at the same place in 2001. Since then, tourists used to hang dolls to pay tribute to Don and continue his superstitions.
The view is scary as hundred of dolls are hung on trees in damaged condition. So, please don't take your kids on your trip to Island of the dolls. There's a museum as well where tourists can read more about the story of Island of the Dolls.

However, there are no stones or rocks, 39 cars are used instead to create the 96 ft round henge. It was built as a memorial to Jim's father. The place is now called the Car Art Reserve and served as a great location for the movies and commercials.
